How to reduce acne?

What is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition resulting from a bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes. Acne materializes visually through the appearance of black, white spots or pimples and redness (usually patches) on various areas of the body, including the face, neck, chest and back.

Does acne only affect teenagers?

Acne usually affects adolescents, but it can also develop for adults. Indeed, P. acnes is a bacterium naturally present in the cutaneous flora in the sebaceous glands. It uses sebum to develop, so the more sebum secretion is important the more the bacteria proliferates. This causes an inflammatory reaction that causes imperfections to appear on the surface of the skin. In general, teenagers are more affected by acne, as hormonal changes cause more sebum production allowing P. acnes to proliferate more.

Should you stop moisturizing your face when you have acne?

Contrary to what we may think, it is very important to keep moisturizing the face when we have pimples. Indeed, dry skin will tend to produce even more sebum and therefore more pimples. On the other hand, it is preferable to opt for water-based products containing less oils and especially containing non-comedogenic oils such as jojoba oil. It is also essential to clean your face every night with a gentle soap.

What ingredient should be used to reduce pimples?

One active ingredient used in our acne-prone skin products to help decrease pimples is salicylic acid. This beta-hydroxylated acid (BHA) from willow bark removes dead cells from the skin surface and reduces excess sebum clogging pores. We use pure salicylic acid powder for better efficiency. We add 2% salicylic acid to our creams and face serum to prevent pimples.

Another ingredient used to fight pimples is niacinamide. This ingredient is a derivative of vitamin B3 that regulates sebum production and decreases the production of P. acne bacteria. Niacinamide is also used in our custom creams and serums for pimples.

Does a face mask helps to reduce pimples?

Be-u Cosmetics detox mask has been designed to reduce skin imperfections. This mask contains 2% activated bamboo charcoal, 2% salicylic acid and 2% tea tree essential oil. The salicylic acid enzyme gently removes dead skin cells and thus reduces skin imperfections. This mask acts in depth to leave a radiant skin. Activated charcoal, meanwhile, absorbs impurities from the skin. Tea tree essential oil has anti-bacterial properties that limit the proliferation of bacteria.

This mask is suitable for areas of the skin that have excess sebum, pimples, blackheads or imperfections.
