What is a natural skincare product?
It is sometimes difficult to distinguish natural skincare products from organic or chemical skincare products. What are the real differences between each of the terms and which ingredients are dangerous to your health? Let us highlight these differences.
Natural skincare products
To be considered natural, a natural skincare product must contain ingredients which:
- Come from a plant or mineral
- Have been transformed, if it is the case, by a simple process. A simple process can be defined, for example, by a transformation resulting from green chemistry, cold pressing, distillation, oxidation, etc. The important is that the process is not polluting and that the ingredient is not extremely transformed. For example, you can find, among natural ingredients, vegetable oils, essential oils, plant extracts, fruit extracts, seeds, etc.
The benefits of natural ingredients in natural cosmetic products
Many natural ingredients are rich in nutrients, vitamins, fatty acids, minerals, and antioxidants. The latter is absorbed by the skin and nourishes it, thereby.
Be-u Cosmetics, uses several plants and fruits ingredients in its natural skincare products. For each of your personalized products, a natural active ingredient is added.
For example, for sensitive skin, our Arnica extract is added to your cream.
Arnica is well recognized and is used for its anti-inflammatory, healing and anti-redness effects. We add 2% of this active ingredient to all your natural facial cosmetics if you mention having sensitive skin. To learn more about this ingredient, visit our ingredients page.
What are the natural ingredients in Be-u Cosmetics’ natural products?
For very dry skin, we add a plant extract of Imperata Cylindrica to your natural skincare products. This plant, often living in flooded environments, has hydration properties that last for more than 24 hours. This is due to its high concentration of potassium and 3-dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP). Imperata Cylindrica will, therefore, help the skin’s collagen synthesis, which will provide natural hydration to your skin.
This ingredient is added to your personalized creams when you mention having very dry skin in your skin diagnosis. To learn more about this ingredient, visit our ingredients page.
What are the ingredients to avoid?
We often hear that toxic ingredients, such as silicones, petroleum derivatives, parabens, sulfates are part of our skin care products. These ingredients are often used by industry to make creams more silky to the touch, to help products penetrate the skin, preserve the product, etc. But are these ingredients really dangerous for our health?
In fact, it all depends on their concentration in the product and also on the ingredient in question.
However, it goes without saying that these ingredients often have harmful effects on the environment since they do not degrade and are not absorbed by nature. Thus, an accumulation of these ingredients occurs in nature and therefore creates pollution. Studies have even shown that it takes around 500 years for silicones to disappear.
In order to limit its impact on the environment, Be-u Cosmetics, therefore, does not use any silicone, paraben, petroleum or sulfate in its natural skincare products.
In conclusion, it is important to stay informed about the ingredients that make up your skincare products. Many brands use the label “natural cosmetics” in their marketing, while often few ingredients are actually on their list.
